Mash Up Friday: Don't Ever Admit You Did That As a Kid Love

Aight. It's all about the air guitar. And air drums. And air keyboards. And a little bit of knock the crowd down air microphone skills. Whether it be infront of a gym full of kids. Or parents at Talent Night.  Or just you in your room infront of the mirror, we all have to admit... we love to airband. Ya we look like goofs but chicks dig it while guys rock out to it. And we all look waaaaay better playing an air guitar then an actual one. Cause really, who can sing, play the guitar, jump up and down, headbang and do the splits all at the same time??? Oh wait... every 80's hair band out there... gotcha. BUT!!!! did I mention chicks dig it?

My memories of the airband are (going backwards) to watching the seniors every year do an AC/DC and The Tragically Hip Christmas airband compilation. And it being AWESOME. So awesome infact that it was seriously the best thing to look forward to at the Christmas or spirit assemblies. I started dating one of these guys, and realized that they practiced their performances alot. I went to a lot of parties where they would just randomly, and drunkenly throw on a Hip (sorry but it's mashup love and apparently no one but this guy did a Hip mashup!! According to Google) cd and airband through the whole thing. Non.Stop. Yup.

Going back to grade 9 was the horrifying dance airband. Where yes,,, we had to make a coordinated dance routine along to a song and perform it airband style infront of the whole gym class. What band/song was I unfortunately givin? Lets just say there were 5 girls my group and we were given the British Pop Sensation Girl Power band... All Saints. Bet ya thought I was going to say the The Spice Girls weren't ya. Actually ok, we were given the Spice Girls. But seriously, All Saints were a very much unappreciated group as well with way more talent then The Spice Girls at the time. So I shook my bum to the right, and then I shook my bum to the left. And then I apparently all of a sudden began to have a good time and knew that I felt fine.... with some sort of HI SHEEE HUH??? And all in all, was super glad it was only gym class.

Going back further, all the way to elementary school where we as children were introduced to Marilyn Manson. Yup. A group of the boys decided to scar and maybe scare?) the principal and some of the teachers with a nice rendition of Sweet Dreams. I bet  a few phonecalls were sent home that day to a few parents asking if everything was ok at home. The boys took that performance very seriously. Strobe light and red paint included. I tried to pull of No Diggity with a group of peeps. Piano puppet not included.

Now what's next.
Oh I guess it would have to be me and my sister airbanding to The New Kids. I'm not even going to go there. Her idea I bet... not mine. 2 girly kids + boy crush band tape + ghetto blaster + aunt with video camera about to have awesome blackmail or embarrassing wedding footage become available = priceless. And that is all.

And now for what I remember as my first air band experience.

Remember this guy?

What about her?

Put the both together and VOILA!!

Yup. We get Roxette
I remember playing this cd on repeat with a few of the kids at the babysitters and rocking out. Oh ya. I was 7. And I was awesome. My sister, meh. She wished she was awesome as me ;)
And what does all this have to do with me right now??? Well my sister totally got us tickets to go see Roxette in concert in August. Damn strait I'm going to that. I'm pumped. And gonna rock out with my 7 year old air guitar to "The Look".

Now here's some never admit to it but I did mashup love.

Latah Daze!!

ps.. in my AC/DC  search I came across this. Not your banging, dj playing worthy mashup. But I find alot of these on my searches and I gotta say. Some talented people out their doing their own acoustic mashups.
Enjoy
